
Debutant director Gopi Kuttikol’s project Derboni is on the lines of modern Malayalam films, which are often packed with novel themes and innovative narration techniques.
The film centres around rivalry and conflicts spurred by caste and religious sentiments. The screenplay is penned by Binu Lal Unni. “Derboni is a small village in Kasargod, where the hero resides and hence the film has been titled Derboni.
Perhaps for the first time, actor Vijayaraghavan will be appearing in three get-ups. He will be shown as an army man past 30, then in his 60s as the man who fought the Chinese war and thirdly as a 90-year-old grandpa.
Vijayaraghavan’s son Devadevan will do a major role in the film as a Muslim migrant labourer. Keerthy Suresh will be the heroine. The shooting will begin on June 25.
